SCIENCE WEEK

In the frame of the BERLIN SCIENCE WEEK the IKSK proposes two events:

WORKSHOP:

CYBERNETIC CIRCULAR DANCES

// Friday, Saturday and Sunday// Nov 3-5// 15 00 - 18 00//

RÜDIGER WENK, FELIX RUCKERT | FELIX RUCKERT, RÜDIGER WENK

LISTEN AND MOVE (AND/OR NOT) IN A VERY SPECIAL, GUIDED WAY!

In the frame of the Berlin Science Week, Felix Ruckert & Rüdiger Wenk aka Phonoschrank, will offer a space of silence, reflection, and non-doing, interwoven with a practice of minimal cybernetic collective dancing.

Everyone is invited to come and participate.

At every full hour, Phonoschrank will offer a 20-minute White Noise meditation, followed by a 40-minute phase of meditative movement in a group in cybernetic sounds.

Felix Ruckert will choreograph a series of simple circular dances, especially for the occasion. The dances will be slow and minimal, sometimes even without almost any movement, focusing on collaboration and listening. All dances are technically very easy and require no previous experience with dance or music.

Phonoschrank will guide your listening from meditation to movement, from the function ”White Noise” to a cybernetic sound synthesis algorithm, and from technical cybernetics to social cybernetics.

The IKSK pyramid will be open from 3:00 p.m. – 06:00 p.m., all welcome.

Entrance is free.

THE COMFORT OF THE TRIVIAL

FELIX RUCKERT, RÜDIGER WENK | KASPAR DORNFELD, RÜDIGER WENK, FELIX RUCKERT, FLORIAN LEITNER

THE TRIVIAL OF CYBERNETICS!

The installation brings together a dance performance and an academic lecture. Its purpose is to construct a complex cybernetic system of mutual influence.

Felix Ruckert’s solo dance performance explores opportunism with space and playfulness with time. He will just move in sometimes very predictable and sometimes in unpredictable ways, exploring patterns and system, and deconstructing them, playing with the concept of the body as an emotional and physical machine, exploring the seriality of interventions and indulging in repetition with frequent pauses...

The starting point is an academic lecture by Dr. Florian Leitner about scholarly and artistic thought, their congruities, and differences. It will take place in a separate room.

The audio signal of the lecture will be transmitted into the performance space, where the lecture topics will be approached from the artistic side through performance. The sound of the lecture will serve as a sound source and control signal for a cybernetic algorithm within the modular system of Rüdiger Wenk. The movement and the sound of the performance will, in turn, be transmitted back into the lecture room and thus influence the academic talk itself as well as its perception.

Another level is added by Kaspar Dornfeld, who, on the one hand, will take care of the signal transmission and, on the other hand, will create a multi-camera setup (with video recording) whose cuts and cross-fades will not be decided and implemented by a human director, but will be controlled by parameters that will be partly predetermined, partly measured in real-time.

The audience on site will be allowed to move freely within the different spaces during the entire performance duration.

Entrance Fee: 20 €
