The sweet spot Semenawa level I// Weekend workshop at IKSK// with Roxu & Ena Dahl

The Sweet Spot /  Semenawa I

 with Roxu + Ena

Semenawa is usually referred to as tormenting rope. Though accurate enough of a translation, we’d like to introduce it as the rope of precision. Because torment is an instrument, never the point itself.

What we look for is smaller and harder to pin down. It’s the place where pressure stops being something endured and becomes something wanted. Where the body stops bracing and starts leaning in. The sweet spot. It sits somewhere different in every person, and somewhere different in the same person on a different day. Finding it isn't a matter of strength but a matter of attention.

The softest thing in the world dashes against and overcomes the hardest; that which has no substantial existence enters where there is no crevice.
— Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Lao Tzu's water doesn't overpower the stone. It finds the seam, and enters where there was no opening. That's much closer to what we teach than anything involving force.

In our practice, tying is a journey we go on together. We find our way through collaboration, keen listening, and constant attunement to one another. Roxu challenges Ena not to break her, but to lift her, to return her to her own strength and remind her what she's capable of. Semenawa at its best isn't a demonstration of what the rigger can impose, or what the model can take. It's evidence of what two people can hold between them.

In our Semenawa Level I, we'll share the foundations of our own approach, both in theory and practice. Yes, we will move through exercises to demonstrate specific sequences and shapes, but throughout we practice listening and paying attention to our partners. We look carefully at how the body responds and moves, what the model’s change in breath, expression and gestures may signalize. Each sequence and shape will offer some flexibility to either push more, or to yield and soften. Together we look for your unique sweet spot.

Bottoms are not passengers here. There's a craft to receiving semenawa, and we teach it directly: how to stay present inside sensation rather than disappearing from it, how to keep communicating when words get expensive, how to locate your own edge instead of waiting for it to be shown to you.

Required level

This workshop is an entry point into semenawa specifically, not into rope. A solid foundation, both for riggers and models, will allow you to get the most out of this workshop. Other than that, come as you are, whatever your gender, orientation, or relationship configuration. We meet you where you are.

ABOUT ENA AND ROXU

Roxu and Ena Dahl are partners in life, in work, and in ropes. They met at The European Rigger & Model Exchange (Eurix) in Berlin in the spring of 2024 where they instantly connected over a shared passion for long, drawn out teasing in (and out of) ropes.

From southern Spain, Roxu is a Berlin-based rigger and co-founder of Espacio Takibi. With a background in Semenawa and Aibunawa, he’s known for his precise, seductive style and attuned, deliberate control.

Ena Dahl is an Oslo-born, Berlin-based rope (s)witch, kink educator, bodyworker, author, creative director. She brings her expertise in somatics, storytelling, and embodiment to their shared practice.

Together, they teach and perform across Europe, exploring rope as a deeply intimate, erotic dialogue—slow, teasing, and emotionally charged. Their dynamic is collaborative and curious; each tie is a conversation built on trust, presence, and mutual desire to go deeper.
